English is a worldwide language. About two billion people across the planet speak English. Therefore, it՚s no surprise that different varieties of this language have arisen. The aim of this paper is to analyze the main varieties of the еnglish language and discuss their peculiarities and differences.
The work consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion and bibliography.
The introduction explains the structure of the work.
Chapter I. provides a general overview of the English language and explains the main reasons for the language change. It also discusses the main characteristics of Australian English and Canadian English, which are among the most commonly used varieties of the English language.
Chapter II. draws a parallel between British English and American English and lists some differences between them with respect to their spelling, vocabulary and grammar. This chapter also explores how the language of the youth can affect the general language development, explaining what slang is, how it is used, and why it is used by the American youth.
